The Museo della Civiltà Romana (Museum of Roman Civilization) and the Planetarium and Astronomy Museum are temporarily closed in preparation for the redevelopment work of the building in compliance with regulations. These interventions are aimed at providing a better use of the Museum.
Financial resources necessary for the redevelopment of the Museo della Civiltà Romana have been allocated today. With the funds, requested by the mayor of Rome Ignazio Marino and by the Municipal Councillor for Culture Flavia Barca, a tender will be called for the renovation works, which will include: the redevelopment of the exhibition halls , the upgrade to current regulations on hygiene and fire prevention, the safety of the area and the removal of architectural barriers .
These works will also cover the large model of Imperial Rome and the historic rooms of the Museum, the Planetarium and the Astronomy Museum, resulting in the immediate closure to the public of the Museo della Civiltà Romana.
"Finally, the city's best educational Museum will now undergo redevelopment works," stated the Mayor Marino and the Councillor Barca. "It was several years that these funds were awaited. The enhancement of our cultural heritage and of a museum complex like the Museo della Civiltà Romana, frequented mainly by young students, results from action like these."
